Jeffrey Stevens has lived in the Boston area since 1971. He holds an M.M. in piano performance from Boston University, and in 2016 retired from a 40 year career as an accompanist and vocal coach. Today finds him immersed in his first love, the visual arts. Among his current projects are two extended series of prints, Trees & Totems and the Water Variations.

“The visual arts and the performing arts have through the years continually vied for dominance in my imagination. Years before beginning my study of piano I was drawing and painting. My father drew. My older sister drew. An indelible memory of my early childhood is of lying in my bed observing the forms which the tree trunks and branches made against the sky through a second story window. As an adult, in the midst of my career as a professional musician, I would dream of music but seldom saw the scores in my dreams. Instead I saw paintings, over the surface of which I would somehow trace musical phrases. Strange and wonderful.”
